It won't help -- the DNS resolver that sipXecs uses does *not* look
at /etc/hosts.  (And it would not help much if it did, because every
device that wants to communicate with sipXecs must be able to resolve
the SIP domain.)

Make sure that you have at least a cache-only DNS server on the sipXecs
platform(s).  That server will cache the DNS records to ensure that
sipXecs does not have to wait a long time for DNS resolution.
