In "either" instance, its a yum update. Yes, I'm sure the schema changes.
Yes, a backup is best to perform before upgrading.

4.1 is the "unstable" development version which will be 4.2 and made
available as stable at some point.

A key point here - "stable". Just in case there was a thought that there
was a stable version for this. There is no stable release in 4.2 or 4.1
anything. All 4.1.? is unstable development code. 4.2 or whatever they
call it at release time will be stable at that point, but it is not
available now. The current, and most recent release is 4.0.4.

What gremlins are you having? I suspect that like all software, the next
release will have different gremlins. I haven't seen that there is a new AA
in the next release. There are improvements to the dial by name though.
I'd suggest looking through the roadmap for an idea of what is in it.

What would be the procedures to taking a running sipxecs, from the CENTOS
ISO with 4.04 and downloading a stable (4.1x?) or 4.2 version.
I assume the upgrade is oneway, with sql schema's changing, right?

This uses a newer AA?

Less gremlins? or more?
