So you know, updating to the latest firmware helps with that unit (has to be invoked from the handset if I recall). You can transfer and hold on calls, but the button sequence is complex and the keys are not ergonomically friendly.
The sound quality is "ok", we've use repeaters and they tend to be somewhat useable, but the speakerphone quality is almost adequate. We use them for wireless extensions when we need to be away from our primary desk, they are wifi friendly, and the battery life/standby is as advertised. IMO dect makes so much better sense than the extra layers needed to do this with wifi, but the power useable is much smaller.
