They are supposed to be the same. The phone does not matter here. Sipxbridge
manages that. Your vyaTta router is not doing symmetric nat.

If I understand you correctly this will only work if the outbound and
inbound ports are the same. They currently are not. Here are the contents of
the SDP:

INVITE from Polycom -> sipx: IP 10.253.0.17 port 2252

INVITE from sipXbridge -> RNK: IP 1.2.3.4 port 30,000

200 OK from RNK -> sipXbridge: IP 207.2.123.181 port 44694

200 OK from sipx: IP 10.253.0.51 port 30,002

Maybe there is some configuration item I'm missing?

I don't have much experience with older Polycom phones to compare with. But
I can tell you the noise cancellation is the best I've heard.

Your vyatta router does not need a sip filter or their "version" of a sip
filter to do this.

The vyatta router should do "symmetric port nat". If the vyatta is doing
symettic port nat with all ALG or sip filters off, "IT WILL WORK".

Dear sipx list,

I have the following network configuration:

Polycom VVX1500 at 10.253.0.16

Sipx 4.0.4-017289 at 10.253.0.51

Vyatta firewall 3.4.7 - Public IP 1.2.3.4 (not really), private IP
10.253.0.254

Gateway RNK at 207.2.123.180

A call is established between the Polycom and an outside line. Voice can be
heard from the Polycom on the PSTN phone, but voice from the PSTN phone can
not be heard on the Polycom. Vyatta is not creating the NAT rule to route
traffic to sipx-bridge.

The Polycom sends the INVITE to sipx. Sipx-bridge rewrites the SDP with the
public IP address of Vyatta and some new port number, and then forwards the
request to RNK.

I contacted Vyatta support and they said sipx should not be rewriting the
SDP, but instead should leave the private IP address in it. Then Vyatta will
rewrite the SDP and open the appropriate port. I can not figure out how to
do that. Can you please help?

Here is a highlight of my sipx configuration:

Gateway

Name: RNK

Address: 207.2.123.180

Route: sipXbridge-1

Servers -> server_name

IP address: 10.253.0.51

Server Roles:

SIP Trunking

Conferencing

Management

Primary SIP Router

Voicemail

NAT

Address type: Specify IP address

Public IP address: 1.2.3.4

Public port: 5060

Internet Calling

NAT Traversal

Enable NAT Traversal: Checked

Server behind NAT: Checked

Thank you for your help,

Brian
