I totally agree, and didn't mean to imply a request for direct posts or other actitivity against license agreements. I have meanwhile found what we need.
What beats me (us), is that we have been trying to work directly with Audiocodes, and they refuse to get us the firmware without a support contract. (Even though these units are only 2 weeks old, and we pointed out that this is an R&D project looking at several vendors for sip gateways to interface to our campus PRI/T1's and analogue faxen. Ie. our overall vendor experience at this stage (not just the technology side of it) will decide who we go with...) Thanks for the help, and whatever we learn, we will post back to the wiki pages.
