Here's the original how-to for this that has since got hacked up and
made less-clear (IMHO):

http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php?title=HowTo_interconnect_two_sipX
_PBXs&oldid=13146

(how's that for a back-in-time GUI trip?)

The reason why you are able to call the AA but none of the phones is
that there are no permissions required to call into an auto attendant
but there are permissions required to directly call an extension.

This all assumes you are utilizing SRV records.

By setting up your gateways to call the hostname of the opposite system
your outgoing calls looked like this:

Source                                  Destination

[email protected]  ---->      [email protected]

and

Source                                  Destination

[email protected]  ---->      [email protected]

>From a call security standpoint this is wrong because the gateway
definitions that you created set:

Site2 pbx to expect a call from [email protected] but as I showed you
above, the call was coming from [email protected]

and

Site1 pbx to expect a call from [email protected] but as I showed you
above, the call was coming from [email protected]

Hope that helps clarify what was going on. When you said you followed
the book, I think you missed some information in it. Page 240 states
"Notice the Address field is simply the SIP domain of the remote PBX and
not the IP address of the remote PBX."

Thanks,

   Mike

Hi Everyone,

Tony is right, changing the Address field to domain name fixed it.

Closing this thread.

Many thanks to Tony!

Ah, well, that never worked unless that is how the PBX is setup (not
using SRV records).
