In the meantime, if you absolutely *must* get rid of default gravatars, there 
may be some other alternatives:

1- Actually make use the gravatar integration and a create free gravatar 
account for every user on your system and upload more acceptable pictures.  
This could be impractical depending on the size of your site.

I would want to disable it for the privacy and for performance reasons.
(sipx 4.2.0 user interface is a LOT slower than 4.0.4. some of it might be the need to go out to gravatar.com
2- [Hack Warning] Disable access to gravatar site in your firewall, if it is 
capable of such filtering

3- [Major Hack Warning] Change your DNS server or hosts table on sipXecs to 
resolve gravatar.com to a bogus address.  System should be able to cope with 
this but it would have to be verified.
would going to devices->network paramaters, DNS; make an entry do it?
(I guess not, I don't see any new /etc/hosts entries)
