It's in the cisco manual for sip. True is one, false is the other. I don't have the phone.
so, it can't be done in the sipx config for the phone?

I see it for the poly (its set to default: unchecked, I assume
" otherwise, use SDP media direction attributes (such as a=sendonly) per RFC 3264 when initiating hold. In either case, the phone processes incoming hold signaling in either format."

but in poly, unset 'sip' the defaults SEEM to indicate they are unchecked: (unchecked, hold works going from poly putting user on hold to cisco)
this also affects transfers, since it puts the tranfere on hold.

so: this, is the default checked or not?

     dialog

useSDP If checked, and the phone is put on hold the dialog shows the SDP in dialog. If unchecked, no SDP is sent and param {pname="+sip.rendering" pval="no"} is sent in dialog. NOTE: Default value for firmware 1.6.5 was checked. usePvalue Unchecked value means phone uses pval field name in Dialog. This obeys the draft-ietf-sipping-dialog-package-06.txt draft. Some implementations require a field name of pvalue. This will be used when this is checked.
