Well, this is a fresh new system so the old errors aren't available anymore. 
The original problems all started with the name change. I then changed the ssl 
self signed certs and the problems just grew. After I did that, the dbase 
didn't want to start anymore so I could not restore.

Yes, I tried this also on the old system and that didn't work.
When I tried this, I first rebooted because I found that the dbase would start 
on a fresh reboot but it would never restart if I tried to restart it from cli 
after that. 

So after a fresh reboot, I then restored from command line but had forgotten to 
update the new system to 4.2. 
Once I did that, I was able to reboot again, restore, and it fired up. Mind 
you, this is just a restoration of my old system so that we can use the gui to 
copy all of the old config/user info onto a new system. Restoring a new system 
would just lead to the same problems since the backups contain the old domain 
as well. 

Whew, it's pretty much always a pain when having to change name or ssl certs :).
