A new chapter in the DTMF saga... A number of issues have led us to look into changing ITSPs. Voxitas set up a test account for us to use for 30 days to find and resolve any issues we might have with their service. In testing with Voxitas, we discovered that when we call some numbers, the AA at the receiving end sometimes cannot decode our DTMF. One of the numbers that exhibited the problem happened to be an outside consultant that we use. Working with the consultant, we made a Wireshark capture of a call to the consultant, and the consultant made a simultaneous capture from their end. In comparing the two captures, it appears that DTMF is leaving our network correctly, but is being corrupted before it reaches our consultant. Voxitas says that there are known issues between Asterisk and some audio gateways, and hypothesized that something similar was happening here. For a fee, they offered to determine which of Voxitas's upstream providers corrupt our DTMF, and lock us into the remaining upstream provider(s). This makes us two for two on ITSPs that have had some issues with DTMF. Since the Wireshark captures that we did with our consultant seem to show that our system is sending DTMF correctly, and that it is being corrupted upstream, I have to wonder if anyone else has run into similar issues (either with certain ITSPs or with certain audio gateways?) sipXecs 4.0.4 Polycom IP550 and IP650 phones, with 3.1.3.30439 firmware and 2.8.1 bootblock -- Mike Burden Lynk Systems, Inc e-mail: mailto: Phone: 616-532-4985 _______________________________________________ sipx-users mailing list List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-users sipXecs IP PBX -- http://www.sipfoundry.org/
