Unless you utilize a firewall to shape your traffic internally to prevent
games and such from interfering with your voice, which should make it better
but can never be perfect if the internet is involved.

or, if just for one or two lines, just get a couple voip.ms DID's and
point them to a sip phone or ata. even with sipx you would need a
couple of sip phones or ata's.

the 412K (uplink) speed? what is the download speed? what is the
latency? any latencies > 100ms can cause jitter and echo.

for G.711 you need anywhere from 80K to 128K per channel (depending on
how you count it and who you talk to).
G.729a, maybe 32K to 45K (with less latency. and 0 packet loss. I don't
think G.729a likes packet loss)

your home broadband might 'de QOS' voip in favor of their own, or just
not bother.
911 isn't the same.
and if you have kids playing games or downloading 'educational videos',
all bets are off.

(ps, I don't have a home landline, haven't have one for over 6 years.
Just use a cell phone for each person, was cheaper)
