Last time I tried this trick on a GXV3140 the poor thing would just crash upon loading the settings file. (IIRC, its f/w was at v1.0.1.6.) I don't think it was particularly smart of the GrandStream guys to use a binary format for the configuration file. I tried to make sense of the plain text template for GXV3140 <http://www.grandstream.com/GAPSLITE/config-template.zip > but haven't had much progress. Also there's a thread in the GrandStream forum <http://forums.grandstream.com/forums/index.php?topic=3120.0 > that may suggest the available template doesn't match the most recent beta firmware, but it's just my speculation. These are just the problems one gets from relying on a rigid binary data format where a flexible plain text format was called for.
