You're mixing terminology. That is a confusing statement.

ATA is a terminal adapter for an analog phone.

Cisco SPA500 series is an actual SIP handset (not an adapter).

You will find that the configuration file, parameters, and capabilities for
ATA's and Handsets are VERY different, even for the same manufacturer.

The questions YOU NEED TO ASK...

Is anyone developing a plugin for the SPA500 series? Is there is a JIRA on
it?
Has anyone determined what firmware version on the SPA500 works with sipx at
all? How do I configure BLF on it?
Why don't I read the SPA500 administrator manual and see how I should
configure this manually to see if it works with sipx?

Unless you have one of the phones, it's pretty impractical for others to
give you but so much help.
