I have seen posts that show problems with early media (I don't think
sipx supports it), and am going to work with Level3 to turn it off and
do some tests..
HOWEVER, it APPEARS, that early media seems to solve the 'dead air when
transferring externally' issue.
ie: external caller calls the AA and transfers to a phone, that user
doesn't answer and call is forwarded to an external cell phone.
SOME cell phone providers don't provide early media themselves (or so I
assume) and the original caller hears SILENCE (it sounds like he was
hung up on)
it looks like, with level3 (and/or early media turned on) that the
original caller in this situation hears good rinkback always. Level3
has been great in allowing us to experiment with settings on their end
(once we know it all works, we will get a profile documented so that
others don't have to re-invent the wheel.
(or am I hallucinating?)
other than using lots of bandwidth for calls that aren't connected yet,
is there any PROBLEM letting them continue thinking we support early media?
