Did I mention that when I sold real time software/hardware and systems
for process control, a couple of companies came out trying to sell 'real
time' java?
Now, real time to some people means that when you have a distributed
system and make a change to server a, it shows up on server b pretty
quickly.
Some people think it means that by the end of the day, the inventory is
right.
for process control, it means that when the temperature sensor in the
nuclear power plant goes above a certain figure, the rods are pulled out
slightly.
(in under 50us... ) anything > 100us and the thing blows up.
would you want to be in a city with a nuclear power plant controlled by
a real time java system?
