We are using SRV records on the outside - it makes it very easy to setup a remote. We literally will plug in a phone locally, set it up - then it can be used inside our network or from a standard internet connection. It will get it's DNS server from someone else's DHCP server and it resolves via our public SRV records. Boot up tends to take a good bit longer for a remote (several minutes) - but it is generally a smooth process...
