If you are not a telco you really don't have to worry about digital
intercepts.

Isp's have to respond to digital intercepts via the CALEA Act, as do
telco's.  Enterprises don't have to offer a way for law enforcement to
access their employees, but their providers do.

There seem to be several terms but it's interesting news that it might be on
the table.
I'm not overly surprised at how many people are interested in this
considering the type of society we are becoming.
Of course, which ever method is used, I'm sure there will have to be rules
that allow gov't to decrypt traffic if wanted.
