Anyone answer about Level3?

BEFORE YOU SIGN UP WITH LEVEL3, YOU NEED TO KNOW SEVERAL
THINGS.

THIS IS THE BEST SIP PRODUCT, AND THE BEST FIBER TRANSPORT I
HAVE EVER HAD. (look up our ip in whois: 204.89.241.0/24.
had our own c block since 1994)

HOWEVER:
#1, UNLESS YOU ARE A RESELLER, THEY WILL FORCE YOU TO USE A
PRODUCT, CALLED EIPT. it is a CONSUMER product, running
broadsoft and acme sbc, limits hops to 9 (not 70), and is
really designed for sip phones, NOT trunks.
#2, it can (and has been ) hacked, and level3 will try to
get you to pay for calls that never even touched your
network.
#3, they use 'authentication', not registration, so this
mucks up the outbound caller id on transferred or forwarded
calls.

#4, IF YOU CAN GET THEM TO SELL YOU ELS TRUNKING. go for it,
but also be aware that they demand you take eipt or els
trunking on udp port 5060.

you will need an sbc, or figure out port translation on your
own.

if you have a level3 pre-sales call, with them, mention my
company name, have them look me up.. I have helped a couple
of sipx users get level3 services working. (no, I am not a
reseller)

ps, their billing department is really substandard. as in,
I have had to open tickets every month to get credits for
strange things on the bill, incorrectly billed calls, etc.

pps, did I say that these are the best sip trunks and fiber
I have ever used?
