It's been a while since I've played with them, but when I was testing
with Snom 870's I used the Snom 370 template in sipX which seemed to
deploy ok - Im not sure if things have changed, but in sipXecs 4.2 I
needed to add "option bootfile-name
"/phone/profile/docroot/{mac}.xml"; " to dhcpd.conf to get Snom config's
to load.
As a side note, when I was testing the 870's they were horribly unstable
... had problems with spontaneous reboots and a long list of other
reliability issues... new firmware versions seemed to be breaking more
things than they fixed... This was over a year ago now though, so
hopefully Snom have gotten their act together ...

snom has a powerful feature by having an onboard openvpn client. most
of my customers require 2 factor authentication for any. on, so snom
is not an option.
at the same time snom support and I don't get along. perhaps support
is friendlier on german.
