I'd prefer it worked, rather than it didn't work. IF the only place it occurs is in the IVR, I don't know I would feel good about making the gateway alter the IVR. It could get quite confusing. Since it's an all or nothing approach, the IVR is the only way that makes sense given the failure case. It makes alot of sense to me to "mimic" what FS does to fix its own idiosyncrasies so it's easier to follow and gets better support overall I think.
