Of course you could opt to put in plain ethernet sip phones and use a duplex port to deliver wired Ethernet service.
When it comes to MWI on an analog phone, it just makes no sense with a sip system. Most telco's and hosting providers ONLY support MWI lights on a very strict number of analog handsets. Staying digital might prove to be easier than you think.
