@Mark,

Good post reply and I appreciate you taking the time to
write. I actually work for one of those companies who have
been providing 911 for many years. The AudioCodes gateway
will actually handle the pANI 10 or 10-digit ANI along with
8-digit ANI very well. You're right, everything is going to
i3 standard at some point and I believe all of the RFPs of
late are asking for equipment that is NG (Next Generation)
ready which includes things like i3. With that said, I still
believe there is a place for sipx in that it can control the
actual call itself. After that I just want to leave the
texting, IM'ing, etc up to the CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch)
software. In my experience the CAD software gets 90% of a
dispatcher's attention a day. I'm thinking that sipX would
be a great call handler and mechanism to dump the
information to the software that is used the most. I
definitely don't see myself getting into the UI business,
rather just teaming up with a good CAD company.

@Mike,

Yes, I think Plant is using sipX. They have some big
installations in a lot of places. I like the idea of using
sipx because it does so many thing out of the box that
asterisk cannot. Like redundancy (without dropped calls).
I'm exploring the rural 911 center market now, which is
something the Plants and Positrons may not go for. In
addition, I'm aiming to be at the right price point along
with the ability to quickly deploy. Thank you for the
input...I appreciate everyone's take and suggestions.
