UCS 4.x would be preferred for me for a few of the new features: support for
the Polycom VVX500; support for configuration by username, instead of device
MAC (Polycom's Hot Desking Feature); flexible key placement (no longer must
keys be in a specific order defined by Polycom – lines, BLFs, Speed Dial,
Blanks). Of course, some of those features would require a bit of extra
support from sipXecs as well.

Just curious – “the newer firmware would be preferred” if that is for a
specific reason, or just prefer to use the newest firmware?

There are some nice features with 3.3.x and above, however, I believe the
firmware prior to that is stable, and useable today. Updating the plugins for
3.3.x and above isn’t a trivial matter and will take some planning and time.

Yes it will. We will probably just skip 3.3.x altogether at this point and go
right to 4.0.x. This is of course my $0.02 and will most likely be the case
unless somebody in the community builds something for 3.3.x. At this point I
don't know why you'd bother worrying about it.

So, 3.2.6 today though...

This is all probably a couple months away at the soonest.

Hello!

I'm facing a decision of whether to use 3.2.x or 4.0.x-firmware on Polycom
phones.
For us, the newer firmware would be preferred, but as of today, SipXecs can't
manage the configuration files used by 3.3.x and 4.0.x-firmware.

I wonder if SipXecs will support the newer Polycom Firmwares, 3.3.x and 4.0.x?
If so, in which version will the support be implemented?
Otherwise I suppose that manual configuration of each phone will be a solution.

I found some old discussions on the subject, but without any clear answer, so I
simply ask again.

Thanks
Sebastian
