This is sort of not very helpful as a discussion goes. While there may be some merit in this, noone on this list has complained of performance issues on sipx 4.5/4/6 as it relates to freeswitch. Realize sipxecs does not use all of the same freeswitch modules that most people using freeswitch install and utilize for other functionality. Example: Most people use it as a b2bua instead of a stateless proxy (like freeswitch), which will greatly affect performance. Using sipx as the proxy really insulates and makes the system scale higher as far as media services go, which is why it was chosen. At the same time, the version that the people who might be having performance issues with freeswitch might not be using the same version that sipx is using. Sipx is using Freeswitch 1.7.
If there are people with performance issues with sipx as it relates to media services (i.e. freeswitch), we would all like to hear about it, but I think until this happens there's no need to invent a crisis or waste a lot of time figuring this out as the devs need to finish their work for the pending release. Thanks for the heads up. The best place to look for answers would be on the freeswitch lists for the time being though.
