I was troubleshooting a remote phone (4.4). Once the phone (polycom) checked the bootrom via ftp, it got really slow to respond. Puzzled I ran a packet capture at the firewall and then checked the states at the firewall where the sipx server is.
I saw the ftp session information, but then I saw port 8185 being requested by the phone. I was puzzled and so I opened the port and behold, the phone was "auto provisioned". Someone had miskeyed the mac address and in the end the phone was trying to reach the provisioning service. So my question is this... as I read through the tracker, I see port 8185 is used internally for auto provisioning: http://track.sipfoundry.org/browse/XX-6624 An example sipxprovision-config file would look like this: log.level=NOTICE log.file=/var/log/sipxpbx/sipxprovision.log provision.profile.tftproot=/var/sipxdata/configserver/phone/profile/tftproot provision.servlet.port=8185 provision.sipxchangeDomainName=ca.nortel.com provision.username=~~id~sipXprovision provision.password=RTbQJjuxrk provision.configUrl=https://master.ca.nortel.com:8443 I am not sure this is known to work. I am just finding this out and other people knew it? Does it need to be documented? If not, does it make sense to use the provisioning service more transparently behind https in the future. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tony Graziano, Manager Telephone: 434.984.8430 sip: [email protected] Fax: 434.465.6833 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Linked-In Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tony-graziano/14/4a6/7a4 Ask about our Internet Fax services! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Using or developing for sipXecs from SIPFoundry?
