No, you do not need. Speex is more then a codec - it have AGC, denoise,
AEC, VAD and resampler in it. So it is used as an AEC in current sipXtapi.
But it is not tunned to work, I think. I have not tried it, so could not say
anything about it. Feel free to work on this, we'll be glad to see your patches,
improving AEC quality. If you'll download sources of Speex, you'll find
testecho.c and echo_diagnostic.m in them - they will help you.

As a sidenote - speex have changed AEC API slightly from 1.2beta1 to
1.2beta2, so sipX code need to be updated to use recent API. Volunteers
are wanted!
