Category: systemimager-client Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Mark Seger (markjseger) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Shouldn't be able to prepare client that can't be installed Initial Comment: I discovered that even though I was able to run prepareclient on my RHEL4 system and successfully upload it to my image server, installation of it failed. The reason was because RHEL4 comes with perl 5.8.5 instaled and the AppConfig rpm installed in the 5.8.0 perl tree on the client and so couldn't be found after the image is downloaded on a new machine when the time comes to configure it. The fix was to install a newer version of the configurator on the client BEFORE pulling the image to the image server. Since system configuration is a critcal component of the installation process, prepareclient should check the current version of perl and make sure that AppConfig is installed in the right directory branch, generating an error message if it isn't. -mark ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100259&aid=1152914&group_id=259 ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
