Supporting mdadm created arrays is something we should make sure we properly support very soon. I believe the old management tools that used /etc/raidtab are being deprecated in favor of mdadm.
We can still use the raidtools to re-create arrays -- I think the arrays themselves are the same. But we should be able to gather the information from the client about the arrays from either /etc/raidtab or the new /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf file, or better yet, by using the available tools, and/or /proc/mdadm, to query the system. We should store all of the raid and lvm info in autoinstallscript.conf, along the lines of what Andrea has started working on, then we can use whatever tools we prefer to re-create the arrays at autoinstall time. So yes, Andrea, I'm giving you the thumbs up to pursue that (if I hadn't already done so). The 3.5.3 version doesn't support LVM over RAID volumes.
Does 3.5.3 by any chance support the new software raid configuration used by centos that doesn't use an /etc/raidtab file?
