Summary: si_mkbootpackage results in unbootable cd

Initial Comment:
Version of systemimager: 3.5.3

Development system: Debian unstable, running kernel =
2.6.12.4
Alternate dev system = Ubuntu breezy badger w/kernel
2.6.12-9-386

I have made a custome kernel - v. 2.6.15 - starting
with the config file from the "standard" i386 boot
image in the package systemimager-boot-i386-standard.
I have included the libata, sata_sil, drivers
specifically so that I can attempt to have a bootable
CD which will mount the sata drive on a Dell Precision
380 workstation. These things use the Intel ICH7
controller which is new.

The good: This script works, which solidifies a process
to follow to get a custom flavor built.

The BAD: The best I can get is a system that boots, and
finds my server, gets the install script from my stored
image, but then cannot find /dev/sda to create a
partition table/filesystem. This using the kernel
supplied with the standard flavor, but using the
si_mkbootpackage script to customize the modules to be
loaded.
Using MY custom kernel, there is a problem: It starts
booting only to fail at: "Warning: unable to connect to
a console".

I am unable any more to build systemimager boot media
that is relevant to my needs.
