I have just merged my finley.udev changes -r 3346:3423 into trunk.
Please check it out and give it a try.
There are some fairly significant code changes here:
- Using udev instead of devfs
- Using hotplug
- uClibc code removed
(if anyone complains loudly enough, we can easily put it back)
- Many .rul files modified to use a more standard scheme of
$(MY_SOFTWARE_DIR).build, $(MY_SOFTWARE_DIR).unpack, etc.
- Instead of trying to install everything from Makefile and
initrd.rul, Makefile and initrd.rul now depend on
$(MY_SOFTWARE_DIR).install. In other words, a package's .rul file
is where you do all bits associated with that package -- from
download and patch, to build, to install.
The only changes that I made _during_ the merge proceedure, were those
needed to resolve conflicts or build issues. As part of this, I did
modify bittorrent.rul and cx_freeze.rul. Please examine these and be
sure that they still behave in the right way.
NOTE: I haven't been able to attempt an auto-install with the merged
code yet. But I think it's mostly (if not completely) working,
and that it was better to get the code into all of your hands
than for me to sit on it until it was perfect.
