The rpm version of perl for RH 7.3 should be 5.6.1, and is known to work
right here. Not sure why POSIX uname isn't working. perl -MPOSIX -e 'print
uname' will test just that. If you can't seem to get that working, I'd
suggest hitting the Perl 5 Porters list.
