Ok, I realized that I hadn't configured ext2 & reiserfs(my root
filesystem) into the kernel. I've been using the systemimager default
i386 config file and made sure that the following is compiled in & I
haven't changed anything else:
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM_SIZE=8192
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD=y
CONFIG_ROMFS_FS=y
CONFIG_EXT2_FS=y
CONFIG_BLK_CPQ_DA=y
CONFIG_SCSI_SYM53C8XX=y
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C8XX_DEFAULT_TAGS=8
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C8XX_MAX_TAGS=32
CONFIG_SCSI_NCR53C8XX_SYNC=20
And the ramdisk root finally loads, however it fails after the following:
--snip
mounted root
switch_root_to_tmpfs
mount_dev_on_devfs
Started device managment daemon
mount_proc
adjust_arch
ifconfig_loopback
load_my_modules
read_local_cfg
checking for /local.cfg file on hard drive...
mounting hard drive...
FATAL: Couldn't mount hard drive!
Your kernel must have all necessary block and filesystem drivers...
--snip
The /dev/ida directory contains disc[012]/{disc,disc0,etc...}. My disks
require /dev/ida/c0d0(not sure if this is even a problem). I'm continuing
to dig, but wanted to pass this on in case anyone was confused w/my latter
response.
