I've used prepareclient successfully on several dozen RedHat 9 and
a Debian system, so this took me by surprise. Running "sfdisk -v" on
both the SuSE9.0 and a sample RH9 system gives the same result,
version 3.07.
what version/package of systemimager?
please include this critical information in any problem report.
there was a problem w/ prepareclient understanding mebibytes at one point,
but that has been fixed, but i can't tell if that is the problem you're having.

I downloaded these last week, and presumed they were the current
release.
