Hi,

I am trying to image RedHat AS 2.1 U5 on a IBM HS20 blade (2 way) with
3.2.3 with the remote floppy capability. I have gotten most of the issues
worked out, i.e. usb drivers for remote floppy, keyboard, mouse, bcm5700
drivers, ide, and ide-scsi. Now my remaining issue is that when parted
tries to carve out /dev/hda2 it throws the following error, This is after
it successfully carves out the first partition of 256 for /boot. I know
that I mentioned that I get this error when I use the remote floppy option,
but the same results happen with a local floppy.

      Creating partition /dev/hda2
      parted -s -- /dev/hda mkpart primary ext2 258 12401 || shellout
Warning: Could not get identity of device /dev/hd/disc0/disk -
Invalid argument
Error: Can't have a partition outside the disk!

It seems that the sis boot kernel that I have compiled thinks the disk is
only an eight gig disk, when in reality it is a 40 GB ide disk.

Information: The operating system thinks the geometry on
/dev/hd/disc0/disc is 1023/255/63.
      (parted) p
      Disk geometry for /dev/hd/disc0/disk: 0.000 - 8024.655 megabytes
      Disk label type: msdos

And when I look at the disk geometry file on my golden client, I see.

      more /proc/ide/ide0/hda/geometry
      physical 77520/16/63
      logical 4864/255/63

What am I missing? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave
