Hi, I'd like to write a tutorial (like this one: http://www.falkotimme.com/howtos/systemimager/index.php) about using SystemImager to backup and restore dedicated servers. It's no problem to get an image of the dedicated server, but the problem is to restore the image on the server because normally such a server is in a datacenter where we can't access it physically, and normally it does not have a floppy drive or CD-ROM drive so we can't insert and boot from an autoinstall diskette/CD-ROM. Now, the German hoster Strato has just given me a dedicated server for free for 3 months in order to write this tutorial, and this server has a Busybox rescue system on it which you can use to repair your main system. I think most dedicated servers come with such a rescue system on it nowadays, and I'd like to use it to restore my image on it. Since the SystemImager autoinstall diskette is also using Busybox, I suppose there's a way how this can be done. Can anyone give me a list of the commands executed by the autoinstall diskette so that I can try to run these commands manually on my Busybox rescue system in order to restore my image? Do I have to install any software on my rescue system before I can do this? Do you know any other way how I can restore an image on a server that I cannot access physically?
Thanks in advance!
