I'm using Debian, so: My clients have /var/account/* in their /etc/systemimager/updateclient.exclude.
I have a small wrapper script around si_getimage that feeds it an exclude file (/etc/systemimager/getimage.exclude), which would have /var/account/* in it (so the upload doesn't have the acct files from the golden master). To create the new pacct file, I'd just modify /etc/init.d/acct to create the zero-length file at start time, but accton may do this correctly; I'm not sure. Hope that helps, M Andrew D.
