Not really.  With 3.5.3, the si_prepareclient process uses the kernel running on the golden client, and the modules for that cilent, along with an initrd skeleton to create an initrd.img and kernel that you can use in your /tftpboot directory on your image server.

I have a document at work I can send you, but i'm not sure how site-specific it is to my site.
