Title: [Sisuite-users] mkbootpackage (bug 1426566)
Hi Patrick:

It sounds like you need to use si_mkautoinstallcd with the kernel/initrd.img created using si_prepareclient.  Use the --kernel and --initrd arguments.

BTW, use si_prepareclient with the --norsync argument.  si_mkbootpackage does not work very well.  We will get this fixed in a future release.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Sisuite-users] mkbootpackage (bug 1426566)

Note: I originally posted this with the wrong From and it got stuck in moderation.
Sorry if this is a dupe...

I am having some trouble getting an autoinstall CD to work. This is
following up on bug report 1426566, where I took the suggestion
to try an experimental version of SI. I like the idea of being able to
make the autoinstall CD from the installed system,  btw...

* experimental SI 3.6.3
* golden client is Fedora Core 4 w/ updates (kernel 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4)
* hardware is an athlon64 XPC with nvidia SATA controller (sata_nv) with
  one SATA hard drive (sda) and nvidia onboard Gbit NIC (forcedeth)

note  -- I am running all 32-bit binaries because I need to support older
32-bit systems with the same image

I originally was messing with si_mkbootpackage and the kernel/initrd created
by si_prepareclient, but then I noticed that the standard boot package is 2.6.12
and has sata_nv and forcedeth drivers, so I made that autoinstallcd and tried it.

The forcedeth driver loads and works;

The sata_nv driver loads and works;

BUT then parted chokes with:

program parted is using a deprecated SCSI ioctl, please convert it to SG_IO

The parted version is 1.6.25 and autointall kernel is 2.6.12_boel_v3.6.3
For FC4, parted is 1.6.22 and kernel is 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4 and works fine.

So, this doesn't look like a simple versioning issue; probably the FC project
has patched parted to support SG_IO
