platform info:
server: CentOS release 4.2 (Final)
golden image host: CentOS release 4.2 (Final)
architecture: intel 32 bit (x86)
NOTE: centos releases are clones of Red Hat Enterprise releases.
I removed references to labels and made my fstab explicitly name device
files and mount points as per advise I found in SI mailing list
archives. Perhaps this was foolish :)
now, I boot my standard flavor, autoinstall CD with floppy containing
/local.cfg data, run a full image install and watch it reboot. All is well.
when the freshly installed kernel tries to mount the root file system it
still looks for the volume with the "/" label and does not find it. here
are the last of the boot messages:
Red Hat nash version 4.2.1.6 starting
mkrootdev: label / not found
mount: error 2 mounting ext3
mount: error 2 mounting none
switchroot: mount failed: 22
umount /initrd/dev failed: 2
kernel panic
Should I put labels back into my golden image fstab or what?
thanks,
p
