Followup to my own post/problem:

The issue does not appear to be a change from SATA to ATA on the target
machine. I recently tried to autoinstall a system that is identical to the
golden client and the grub install failed there too.

This is FC5 which has the /boot/grub/menu.lst -> /boot/grub/grub.conf symlink.

The line in grub.pm in question (at least the copy of that file on my system)
is in the method that check for the existance of this config file.

Any ideas? Should I just try 3.7.3?

thanks,

Patrick
