it should be very interesting to have the output of the following
commands from your golden client (where $disk is the disk or the disks
in your client):

# parted -s -- /dev/$disk print
# sfdisk -l -uM /dev/$disk

Since I've not an EM64T machine at the moment it can help me a lot for
the debugging...
