Matt,

you can try to comment the mount_sys command here in your golden client:

/usr/share/systemimager/boot/i386/standard/initrd_template/etc/init.d/rcS

Then run si_prepareclient again (always in your golden client) and
you'll find the new kernel+initrd.img in /etc/systemimager/boot.

There shouldn't be problems for the module loading, since busybox is
configured with:

CONFIG_FEATURE_2_4_MODULES=y
