What I would do is create a partition on the new drive, and move the files from
/home onto that, I would also suggest gzipping the / partition onto that as
well, as a backup. I would then modify /etc/fstab to designate the new drive as
/home and, booting into a Live CD, I'd destroy the old /home partition (hda2,
I'd guess) and stretch the / partition out to the full 30 GB of the old drive.

Assuming there isn't some big speed difference between the drives that would
make it worth running / off the faster of the two, I'd keep / on the old drive
and use the huge drive for my /home. I'm a pack rat who dislikes deleting stuff
so my /home would definitely be growing faster than my /.

HTH,

Simón

Subject: [Sisuite-users] Bigger HD / Partition

 hello everyone
i am using FC5
/ partition is 10 GB
/home is 20 GB

now my problem is that i have about 1GB left on my / partition.

I just got a new 250gb HD and i want to create an image and move my
old system to this new HD. Is this possible and how is that gonna
work? Can I just image my / partition and not touch /home at all?

please let me know.

thanks,

lk
