What I did is write a script (/root/scripts/postUpdate) that I invoke from 
both the post-install in /var/lib/systemimager/scripts/post-install and in my 
own doUpdateClient, which just does the si_updateclient followed by 
postUpdate. This is used to fiddle various details (differences in target 
systems usually).
