I think that the main reason is that I don't have a ia64 to build the RPMs. The
same to test them. You can try to build from source the latest release (3.9.6).

Any kind of feedback is really welcome...

Have you tried to use the following boot parameters (as reported in the
troubleshooting guide
http://wiki.systemimager.org/index.php/Troubleshooting#Ramdisk_too_small.3F_Getting_errors.3F)?

ramdisk_blocksize=1024 ramdisk_size=80000
