I don't know what the answer is in general, but this .site seems to work for
the Times:

URL: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/newspaper/0,,2,00.html
Name: London Times British News
Description: The British news section of the London Times newspaper
Levels: 2
StoryURL: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/0,,.*
ContentsStart: <!-- Cell for "Area A" -->
ContentsEnd: <!-- End of cell for "Area A" -->
StoryStart: <!-- Cell for "Area A" -->
StoryEnd: <!-- End of cell for "Area A" -->
StoryHeadline: <font face=times new roman, times, serif size=5 color=\\#000000> (.*)

This can be adapted pretty easily to cover any specific section of the
Times.

I wrote the (no-longer-working) Times .sites in the distribution. I wrote
the about .site back when they changed the layout of the site, but never got
round to sending it in, since I've pretty much stopped using Sitescooper
since I got a Linux iPAQ - lack of decent HTML client. I should really get
back to it...
