The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was held Aug. 15-18, 1969, in
Bethel, Sullivan County.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of this event, a three-day
concert that attracted hundreds of thousands to the Hudson Valley.

The Journal is kicking off its retrospective now for this cultural
touchstone for baby boomers.

We have launched the Woodstock Turns 40 blog - which will be run by
Journal music writer John W. Barry and can be found at
www.poughkeepsiejournal.com - for Journal staff and readers to share
their thoughts on all things Woodstock.

Check out the blog for photos, videos, stories and more about the
most famous concert ever to be held, an event many consider the
crowning achievement of the 1960s counterculture movement and left an
imprint on American popular culture, politics, history, values and of
course, music.

The impact Woodstock had on the Hudson Valley, in terms of the arts,
and cementing this region's place in American history, is perhaps even greater.

Please, join us in the conversation!
