Sep 5 2009 SIXTIES protest singer Donovan has joined the row over a power firm's plans to extract water from the River Doon. The Glasgow-born star has dedicated his latest recording, The Banks of Doon, to Robert Burns, who immortalised it in verse - and to the campaigners protesting against the plan. Scottish Power want to reduce the Doon's flow to power a new hydro-electric plant. Thirty per cent of its water is already diverted and conservation groups say a further loss could create environmental disaster, with reduced water flows damaging fish stocks. . --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Sixties-L" group.
