Nov. 19, 2010

What: March against SB1070, HB2281, and Prop 107
When: Sunday, 11/21/10, 9:30am
Where: Armory Park to Rodeo Park, Tucson, AZ

The Brown Berets, along with other local organizations, will be marching against SB1070, HB2281, and Prop 107 this Sunday, November 21st, 2010, in Tucson, Arizona.

The march will begin at 9:30am at Armory Park downtown and will continue south to Rodeo Park.

The Brown Berets were also on hand last Saturday at the NSM [National Socialist Movement] rally at the federal courthouse in a peaceful manner.

This contrasts with how the NSM has treated the Brown Berets in the past, including attacking them out of hatred for all things non-white, despite the fact that all people, including "Aryans" are descended from Africans in the human family tree of life.

The Brown Berets have served an important role, for example providing protection for Chicano leaders during the turbulent civil rights era.

They are increasing in numbers as racial tensions are again escalating, especially in battlezones such as Arizona where racial profiling allows dark-skinned US citizens to become targets of abuse and attack by authorities under the guise of the law and homeland security.

The local chapter has been present at many events recently providing security to peaceful protesters, and fortunately no violence has emerged in Tucson over the summer, unlike the events that took place in Phoenix last Saturday at the neo-Nazi rally.

From the election of the first black president last year, to SB1070, then HB2281, and just this month with the passage of Prop 107, and with the Ethnic Studies ban taking effect next month, the community will not stand down as these injustices continue to arise, and especially when there are more coming from the new Senate President of the Arizona, Russell Pearce, including SB1097 and an attempt to do away with the 14th amendment.

You can count on the Brown Berets to be at every event also.
