Carlsbad 

“Captain Milkshake,” a classic 1960s anti-war movie with scenes shot in Balboa 
Park, La Jolla Cove and Pacific Beach, will be shown Sept. 16 in Carlsbad to 
mark the film’s 40th anniversary. 

Emmy-award winning producer/director Richard Crawford will lead a 
question-and-answer session about the film, which addresses controversial 
issues of the Vietnam War era. Celebrity guests include stars of the film and 
David Stanley, movie producer and author of “Conversations with the King.” 

Screenings hosted by One Productions are scheduled for 7 and 9:45 p.m. with 
live music at 6 p.m. by the psychedelic rock band Strawberry Alarm Clock and 
concluding with the Q&A at the Carlsbad Village Theater, 2822 State St. Movie 
fans are encouraged to wear 1960s attire. A portion of the proceeds benefits 
returning Iraq War veterans through National Veterans Transition Services.
